Today it was announced that FLYHT has been selected as a partner in Team Spartan.

What is Team Spartan?

Italian airplane manufacturer Alenia Aermacchi builds what they call a fixed wing search and rescue (FWSAR) aircraft, called the Alenia C-27J Spartan. It is considered a medium-sized military transport aircraft. Its customers include the following countries’ militaries: United States, Australia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, Romania and Canada.

Alenia Aermacchi established a “world class team” to “modify and missionize” the aircraft for “extreme conditions, such as those found in Canada’s North.” This team includes: General Dynamics Canada, DSR Technologies, CMC Electronics and FLYHT.

Team Spartan will utilize FLYHT’s AFIRS technology to help ensure “the aircraft will operate safely from even the most remote, isolated Canadian locations.” FLYHT’s products are deployed around the globe and have proven to be reliable products for enhancing safety of the crew and operations in remote locations. The March 2008 article, “From Penguins to Polar Bears”, by Iridium, regarding the AFIRS technology, demonstrates the features that make this unique product a must-have in remote regions.

According to the C-27J Spartan brochure - “Team Spartan’s FWSAR solution will provide over $3 billion worth of work in Canada, supporting hundreds of long-term, high-tech jobs across the country, as well as investments in infrastructure and technology, making it an outstanding economic stimulus for Canada’s aerospace sector.”  To view the C-27J Spartan brochure, please click here.
