Aeromechanical announces successful test flight of AFIRS on Airbus A320

On January 4th Aeromechanical announced it had successfully completed the installation and test flight of AFIRS on a SkyService Airbus A320. So what does this mean? AMS has filed for an STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) with Transport Canada for the whole Airbus A320 family. With the STC, AMS will file for familiarization of the STC to EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) through bilateral agreements between Canada and these agencies.
These filings will allow AMS to actively pursue opportunities with operators of these aircraft around the globe, i.e.) launch full scale distribution into the
whole A320 line of aircraft.

Airbus estimates it has delivered 2944 aircraft from the A320 family and 2921 are currently in operation.
When? Final approval from Transport Canada is expected during the first part of 2007.
